Antonio’s laundromat was looking old, in terms of both equipment and merchandising. Other laundries that had opened more recently in the town offered a friendlier, more modern service. Why did you decide to transform an old self-service laundry into a Speed Queen? Have you ever considered another kind of business?
I saw the opportunity of the first Speed Queen laundry in the Usera neighbourhood, as I own another nearby business. I noticed that the place had already done some things that could be used such as the activity license, the water facilities , gas and smoke outlet, etc. My experience tells me that, having these things, 50% of the project is done. So I bought this old one laundromat and I retooled it to the Speed Queen look and feel.
Why Speed Queen? What attracted you to this brand?
The design, the large spaces and the attention to detail that conform the identity of the brand, helped me decide for Speed Queen.
How did you find out about Speed Queen? Did you contact other laundry brands?
I had seen several stores of the brand, and I was considering other options, but definitely, the concept of Speed Queen made me jump in: the after-sales support, the image designed by experts.
What is the basis for choosing a good place and a good location for your laundries?
I rely on the location to have the target audience for the laundry business, and the Speed Queen experts helped me with the location analysis thanks to their market research department.
How many Speed Queen laundries do you currently have?
I own three laundromats: two in Usera and one in Prosperidad in Madrid.
What are your long-term business plans with Speed Queen? Do you want to continue opening more laundries?
Of course, I plan to continue opening Speed Queen laundries, thanks to the reassurance that the market studies of the locations provide me. I feel safe investing.
What has Speed Queen given you that you did not have before?
The robust machines, the top-notch technology, the sleek design… Transforming an old laundromat into a Speed Queen laundry, definitely encourages more people to come.
How do you manage the maintenance of the machines?
The maintenance of the machines is minimal, simple daily maintenance operations (filter cleaning, surface maintenance…), and with the Speed Queen guarantee, and the effectiveness of technical assistance, I am sure that I will continue to open Speed Queen laundries.
